Week 1: Research and You
Student
Name: Angie Renee’ Woods
In
what ways do I perceive research as relevant (or not relevant) to young
children, their families, and people who care about their well-being? The way
how I perceive research as relevant or not relevant to young children plus
families. Is that everyone has a different problem some may be the same or some
may be different. But as an early childhood educator, or anyone who deals with
families and children as a job. I feel like it’s my responablities to care
about their well-being of the children in their families in the need of any
kind of help that is relevant. For an example, Children living in dangerous
neighborhoods have been found to be at higher risk than children from safer
neighborhoods for severe neglect and physical abuse, as well as child sexual
victimization. Some risk may be associated with the poverty found in dangerous
neighborhoods, however, concerns remain that violence may seem an acceptable
response or behavior to individuals who witness it more frequently. Something
that is not relevant to young children, their families to me is like for
example the child’s mom has a new hairstyle or pair of new shoes. Families
involved in child maltreatment seldom recognize or reward their child's
positive behaviors, while having strong responses to their child's negative
behaviors. Families who are doing good parenting skills in raising their
children in the right way to be successful in life. That is good but as a
person who deal with families and children with the care of their well-being.
Things like this is not relevant because the families are not in need of any
help just doing the right thing in taking care of the child’s well-being.
What
do I already know about research and researchers? I know about research is that
it allows you to pursue your interests in to learn more about the research. Research
is to hone your problem solving skills and to challenge yourself in new ways
and I guess to improve your learning skills better. The researchers support the
information in what research information I may be looking for or about. So that
I can learn more about the research information with the help of the researcher
different sources.
What
challenge(s) do I anticipate in learning about research? My challenge in what I
anticipate in learning about research is about the NAEYC position statements
state the association's position on issues related to early childhood education
practice, policy, and/or professional development for which there are
controversial or critical opinions. Position statements are developed through a
consensus-building approach. How long the program does last is it different
from people with renewing teaching license with ECU credit or is it the same.
What
kind of support, if any, can I offer my colleagues when it comes to learning
about research? The only support that I can offer to my colleagues when it
comes to learning about research is never think that too much information is
not good. Try to find out as much information about whatever the topic maybe.
All kind of research information is good when you trying to find out or learn about
something.
About
what general topic related to the early childhood field would I like to know
more? The general topic related to the early childhood field I would like to
know more is theirs a different in early childhood field then Elementary field.
Does people in Early Child field get paid the same as elementary field people?
Because I want too now which field is the best when I see the same? Early
childhood field goes how deep working with young children and families. Today,
being a lifelong learner is more important than ever. The workplace constantly
changes. Technology pervades nearly every work environment making it necessary
for workers to learn new skills throughout their careers. Workers discover that
in order to be successful, they need to be lifelong learners. There
are both formal and informal places where one can seek new knowledge and
skills.
